NEW BOOK RELEASE
Bunny Feels Strange Today
This is Bunny.
Bunny woke up today feeling a little strange.
The sky seems bigger.
The trees have stopped talking.
The ground is very quiet.
Something in the world has changed.
Or something that used to be Bunny.
Recent work
In 2026, Happy Grave’s work has evolved into an increasingly immersive exploration of mythology, transformation, and world-building. Expanding beyond painting and drawing, he has embraced sculpture, 3D printing, and mixed-media construction to bring his growing universe of original characters into physical space. Central to this new body of work is the emergence of the Scary Chairs, a series of cryptid-like beings that exist somewhere between furniture, folklore, and nightmare. These strange entities occupy a purgatorial landscape of their own, each carrying traces of a forgotten human past.
Alongside these sculptural experiments, Happy Grave continues to produce an ever-expanding collection of drawings and paintings characterized by bold color, obsessive detail, and dark humor. The work balances playful cartoon imagery with themes of mortality, isolation, memory, and the supernatural. Whether rendered in paint, stitched fabric, printed plastic, or found materials, each piece contributes to a larger interconnected mythology that blurs the boundaries between fine art, storytelling, outsider culture, and contemporary folklore.
Welcome to the world of Happy Grave ..an artist whose work erupts from the fringes of outsider art, psychedelic horror, and underground culture with unrelenting intensity.
For over two decades, Happy Grave has carved a singular path through the art world with a relentless output of disturbing beauty.
His work both visceral and hallucinatory has been exhibited in over 100 group shows across North America and Europe, from the DIY grit of Detroit’s Tangent Gallery to the refined walls of Switzerland's art scene. In 2013, his solo exhibition Hell As A Room at the Fun House Gallery cemented his role as a disruptive force in contemporary art.
Grave’s style, often dubbed GRAVE-ISM, defies categorization. Fusing elements of dark surrealism, cartoon horror, glitch aesthetics, and raw emotional narrative, he creates worlds where trauma, absurdity, and beauty coexist. A prolific self-taught artist, his output spans over a dozen books of poetry, collage, and subversive storytelling including the semi-mythical Safari Into The Underworld and the cult-favorite Destroyed series.
Happy Grave's influence has echoed throughout visual and underground scenes alike ..his visual language borrowed, reinterpreted, and unapologetically replicated by a generation of younger artists. He has been featured in Girls and Corpses Magazine, XFUNS, Revue Métèque, and The Best Horror of the Year, and his art has graced record covers, anthologies, and even paranormal autobiographies.
To encounter Happy Grave's work is to confront the uncomfortable and the ecstatic all at once.
This is not art for galleries alone... this is art for the haunted, the ecstatic, and the awake.

Destroyed Photography
Destroyed Photography is one of Happy Grave’s most visceral and conceptually layered bodies of work—a relentless deconstruction of memory, identity, and permanence. Through a process of physical manipulation, distortion, and defacement, Happy Grave transforms traditional photographic images into raw, chaotic expressions of psychic disintegration. Faces blur into abstraction, familiar scenes dissolve into texture and noise, and what remains is a ghostly residue of emotional truth. Far from nihilistic, this series challenges the viewer to confront the fragility of documentation and the violence inherent in forgetting. Destroyed Photography is not merely a technique—it is a philosophy of rupture, mourning, and radical reassembly.
